Teach your 2 year old to stay in his bed when it's bedtime.

When it's time to make that transition from crib to bed, you might as well kiss a couple of weeks worth of sleep goodbye. Your child will constantly get out of his new bed throughout the night. Here are a few good tips to teach him how to stay in bed throughout the night:

Normal bed time routine
Try to keep a normal bed time routine by going to bed at the same time every night and read him a book until he sleeps.

Comfort and Cuddling
Make sure they're comfortable in bed with a few things to cuddle up with and keep the temperature at a cool 76-74F.

Create a nice ambiance
Keeping a fish tank in your child's room will create a soothing background water sound and also give off a comfortable amount of light.

Don't give in.
When your child decides he needs to get up at 3am in the morning and got roaming around the house... the best thing to do is to pick him up and put him right into bed without saying anything. He'll eventually get the idea after a few dozen times of him leaving the bed and you returning him.

Limiting the toys
Your child will try to bring just about everything his little hands can hold with him into the bed. Limiting the toys in bed will help him fall asleep quicker as there would be less distractions to keep him up.
